When MTN acquired a mobile network operator in Zambia, they faced the urgent challenge of establishing new infrastructure to solidify their presence and accelerate growth.
ProjectWay was entrusted to lead this mission-critical initiative, managing a multidisciplinary team of architects, engineers, and quantity surveyors to deliver results under tight timelines.
From site selection in Lusaka and Kitwe to securing agreements with local authorities, ProjectWay navigated complex regulatory and logistical landscapes with precision. Recognizing the need for speed, we were part of a team which pioneered an innovative solution: manufacturing and fitting out airtight, fully equipped containers in South Africa under controlled conditions, while simultaneously preparing foundations, utilities, and security systems on-site in Zambia.
Despite challenges such as limited local construction materials, skills, and specialized rigging equipment, execution proceeded. The switch facilities were successfully deployed and energized on schedule, enabling MTN to rapidly expand its network and strengthen its footprint in the region.
